Perry’s death was initially reported as accidental; however, an autopsy determined that it was the result of a combination of drowning and ketamine use.
The Los Angeles Police Department had previously stated that they had been collaborating with federal authorities in a criminal investigation since
May to determine the source of the ketamine Perry consumed. He purportedly employed it as an antidepressant and anxiety treatment.
However, the medical examiner determined that the ketamine present in Perry’s system was not derived from the infusion therapy, as his most recent session occurred over a week prior to his death.
Attorney Martin Estrada stated in a press conference today that a “vast underground criminal organization was accountable for the distribution of substantial quantities of ketamine to Mr. Perry and others.”
“This network included a live-in assistant, various go-betweens, two medical doctors and a major source of drug supply known as ‘the ketamine queen’,” said the investigator.
