The name “deeply rooted in human history” and “does not imply ownership by any particular nation, but rather reflects a shared respect for the collective heritage of humanity.”

“The use of names like the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and Sea of Oman has never been contested by Iran.
On the other hand, attempts to change the Persian Gulf’s historically accepted name for political reasons are strongly opposed as a sign of animosity toward Iran and its citizens.
All Iranians, regardless of their origin or area of residence, are insulted by such discriminatory acts,” he added.
“Any shortsighted step in this connection will have no validity or legal or geographical effect, it will only bring the wrath of all Iranians from all walks of life and political persuasion in Iran, the US and across the world.”
