Following his and his wife Betsy Arakawa’s deaths, Gene Hackman’s final autopsy revealed a terrible medical history.

Hackman and his spouse, Betsy Arakawa, passed away in February 2025. After being discovered in their New Mexico home, there were initial concerns that the couple might have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

However, it was later discovered that Hackman and Arakawa passed away on separate days from other causes.

Superman hero Hackman passed away on February 18 from heart illness, while Arakawa is thought to have died on February 11 from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.

It was not until February 25 that their remains were found. Additional information on Hackman’s lengthy medical history has surfaced, and it is also thought that Alzheimer’s played a role in his demise.

According to the final autopsy that Fox News was able to get, Hackman had “severe chronic hypertensive changes, kidneys” and a “history of congestive heart failure.”

A ‘bi-ventricular pacemaker’ was implanted in the actor in April 2019, and ‘neurodegenerative symptoms consistent with Alzheimer’s Disease’ were also seen.
