Numerous American states have been devastated by Hurricane Helene, and the death toll is rising. Marcia and Jerry Savage are the most recent fatalities;
they were murdered when a tree fell on their house as they were holding one other. As the storm continued to rage outside their South Carolina home,
tTeir grandson John rushed upstairs to check on his grandparents who were curled up in bed after hearing the wind roaring and limbs breaking.
The 22-year-old recalled going back to check on his grandparents, Jerry, 78, and Marcia, 74, after hearing a crack. “The dog was fine, and they were both fine.”
But soon after his check-in, he heard a tremendous “boom” coming from upstairs, and he realized that the two seniors had been killed instantaneously when the largest tree in their neighborhood fell directly on top of them.
