According to John, his grandparents were giving each other hugs just before the storm claimed their lives. The family believes that God intended for them to go together rather than for one of them to suffer alone.
He stated, “My grandpa apparently heard the tree snap beforehand and rolled over to try and protect my grandmother when they pulled them out of there.”
The couple, who fell in love in their teens, had been wed for more than 50 years. John said, “They loved each other to their dying day.”
To assist with the costs of their funeral, a GoFundMe has been established. According to an Independent story, they are survived by their son and daughter, four grandkids, and seven great-grandchildren.
