Following their “suspicious” deaths, Gene Hackman and his wife’s preliminary autopsy reveal no exterior injuries.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office stated Thursday that early autopsy on Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa revealed “no external trauma to either individual.”

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office informed CNN that the couple and their dog were discovered dead in their New Mexico home on Wednesday. He was 95 years old.

The sheriff’s office said in a press release on Thursday that the reason and manner of the couple’s deaths are yet unknown.

The statement also said that “this is still an open investigation.” The sheriff’s office said that official toxicology and autopsy results are still awaiting.

According to the announcement, toxicological and carbon monoxide tests have been ordered for both Hackman and Arakawa. New Mexico authorities said they have not completely ruled out.
