Smith stated during the press conference that she was unaware of the circumstances surrounding the incident, referring to it as a “very fresh investigation.”
The shooting weapon “did not come through during regular intake time,” according to her.
“It was not a failure of our staff, of our protocols, of the machinery that we have,” Smith stated, without providing further details.
Around lunchtime, a senior student informed Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA that he heard several gunshots while he was in the foyer.
