Friends Have “No Black Characters,” Says Actress Quinta Brunson.

Marta Kauffman, a co-creator of the program, has said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times: “I’ve learned a lot in the last 20 years.” This speech comes after the show was met with criticism.

“It is not simple to admit and accept guilt. Gazing at one’s reflection in the mirror is a terrible experience. It makes me ashamed that I was so naive twenty-five years ago. “Understanding how I internalized systemic racism was a long and arduous process for me.”

An endowed chair in African and African American studies at the institution where Kauffman studied was funded by a subsequent gift of $4 million (£3.2m) from her.

The show’s Phoebe, Lisa Kudrow, has spoken out in support of Kauffman and co-creator David Crane.

According to her interview with The Daily Beast, she explained the show’s creators as two Brandeis alums who chronicled their post-graduation life. “They should not be composing works that explore the lived realities of people of color.”
