Gerry Turner, the 73-year-old “Golden Bachelor,” has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

 

“Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with cancer while Theresa and I were working extremely hard to figure out our lifestyle.

Where we were going to live, and how we were going to make our lives work,” Turner said. The father of two clarified.

That he did not see an orthopedic specialist at the time of his shoulder injury, which occurred three years ago when he was instructing a pickleball session.

“When I finally got around to seeing the doctor, the orthopedic surgeon told me, ‘Yeah, Gerry, there are some unusual blood markers here, but there’s not much we can do for your shoulder,'” he said.

“I’m currently working with a hematology-oncology group in Fort Wayne after an orthopedic surgeon referred me to my family physician, who in turn referred me to an oncologist.”
