Girl’s message to her future self, written months before she died.

Most kids dream of attending college, traveling the world, and making a lot of friends. Taylor Smith, 12, of Johnson City, Tennessee, was no exception.

This girl spent her days with her family and friends and enjoyed watching a lot of Doctor Who. Smith detailed these ambitions in a letter to her future self in April 2013.

The letter was placed in a box in her room, with the instructions “To be opened by Taylor Smith only on April 12, 2023 (unless stated otherwise).”

Unfortunately, she did not survive long enough to see if her hopes would be realized. Taylor died just months after writing that letter as a result of complications from a rapid onset pneumonia.

Her parents, Tim and Mary Ellen Smith, were devastated. They couldn’t believe their girl was gone forever.
