Garcia was deported in March; Democrats have characterized him as a “Maryland man.”
Documents gathered by the New York Post and others, however, point to long-standing claims of domestic violence and gang membership.
According Maryland court records from 2018, Garcia was linked to the aggressive MS-13 gang.
Edwin Trejo Ramos, the ex-partner of Garcia’s wife Jennifer Vasquez Sura, submitted a custody petition containing the allegations.
Along with claiming Sura had left their 11-year-old children with, Ramos, who is imprisoned, said Sura tried suicide.
Sura requested a protection order against Garcia in 2021. She hesitated when asked about the earlier accusations on a recent TV appearance—an interaction that attracted more attention from Trump administration officials.
