Several attacked the political optics of the visits and questioned the use of public money to send Congressmen to support Garcia’s comeback.
Jeffries’ office first said nothing regarding the Bulwark allegations.
Jeffries’s spokesman Christie Stephenson termed the news “thinly sourced,” following publication, although he did not specifically refute the allegation that the Minority Leader had pushed to curtail additional travel.
Stephenson’s comment also omitted addressing whether Jeffries personally backs ongoing congressional advocacy on Garcia’s behalf.
