Actor Gary Sinise and his family are grieving the loss of their 33-year-old son, McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise, and have received tragic news.
On the Gary Sinise Foundation website and his Instagram page, Gary, 68, tragically announced Mac’s passing. He said that Mac tragically lost his fight with cancer on January 5.
Gary said in a moving message that Mac has been fighting Chordoma, an uncommon kind of cancer, since August 8, 2018.
Only a few months had passed since Moira Harris, Gary’s wife, was also diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
While Mac’s illness became worse over time and eventually robbed him of his strength and mobility, Moira responded well to therapy and went into remission.
Despite facing health issues, Mac never gave up and kept pursuing his love of music. In addition to joining the Gary Sinise Foundation as assistant manager of outreach and education, Mac demonstrated his drumming prowess by playing with his father in the Lt. Dan Band.
