In one of the most unlikely bouts in the history of the sport, social media sensation Jake Paul upset famous boxer.
Mike Tyson by majority decision late Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. With scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73, all three judges decided in Paul’s favor.
With the victory, Tyson drops to 50-7 while Paul’s professional record rises to 11-1. Paul said after the bout, “He’s exactly what I thought, one of the greatest to ever do it,”.
Someone asked Tyson whether he was finished boxing. “I’m not sure,” he said. Tyson remarked, “I don’t think so,” during the broadcast. “Maybe the brother (Logan Paul).”
Paul, a 27-year-old social media celebrity with about 21 million YouTube subscribers and over 27 million Instagram followers, dominated the fight. Tyson’s age caught up with him after an aggressive opening round.
For the most of the bout, Tyson seemed sluggish and seldom delivered any powerful blows. From the middle of the round on, his offensive performance significantly decreased.
