Authorities discovered that Santiago, originally from Venezuela, had twice recorded inappropriate acts involving his daughter at his apartment in the Aluche neighborhood of southwest Madrid.
Investigators found that he also shared the disturbing material on the dark web, leading to his arrest in 2023.
“I was unwell and couldn’t stop myself,” Santiago reportedly told police at the time of his arrest, according to El Mundo.
During his trial earlier this month, Santiago admitted to one count of child abuse and one count of creating unlawful material involving a minor.
Additionally, he was found to have downloaded and shared “extremely graphic” material across several messaging apps and social media platforms.
Santiago was sentenced to 17 years in prison, prohibited from being within 500 meters of his daughter, and stripped of parental rights for ten years.
