In the annual Pantanal bodybuilding tournament in Campo Grande, western Brazil, on Saturday when he reportedly had a heart attack.
He was exiting the stage after finishing his performance, according to witnesses, when he started feeling ill and passed out close to the backstage area.
He was declared dead at the scene after receiving treatment from an emergency crew for more than an hour.
According to a friend who accompanied Wanderson to the tournament, Wanderson had complained of feeling ill earlier in the day but had persisted on participating.
