How a lady who was the only survivor of a terrifying aircraft accident managed to survive for 192 hours by herself in a Vietnamese forest

This is the amazing tale of a Dutch lady who, as the only survivor of an aircraft accident, survived for 192 hours by herself in the Vietnamese jungle.

Annette Herfkens and her fiancé Willem van der Pas went on a romantic five-day excursion to the beach city of Nha Trang in November 1992, departing from Ho Chi Minh City.

Herfkens was first anxious to board the tiny plane, but her 13-year partner persuaded her that it was the most efficient way to go where they were going.

Herfkens’ worst nightmares, nevertheless, would soon come true when the 16-year-old Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft,

built in the Soviet Union, crashed into a ridge lined with trees on the Ô Kha mountain after descending too low owing to inclement weather.
