I taught my husband a valuable lesson when he made a new schedule for me to “become a better wife.”

I placed the food on the kitchen counter and saw something scrawled on the delivery bag’s back. I was instantly drawn to the unsteady handwriting, and I was not thinking about supper as I read the letter.

“Ask about your trash can.” I attempted to keep my cool for my children, but my heart was racing. “How about you two wash up while I prepare everything?”

I recommended that they leave the kitchen. I hurried to the backyard as soon as they left, remembering Ravi’s warning.

My hands shaking, I walked up to the garbage cans and opened the first one. It’s simply our typical crap, nothing unusual. However, I froze when I opened the second can.

An assortment of gloves, a few tiny tools, and an unmarked container containing an unknown substance were found inside, covered in an old blanket. I was filled with panic.

“Mom? Are you alright? I was surprised by Isla’s voice. I hurriedly closed the lid and smiled artificially at her. “I’m all right, my love. Just making sure. I’ll be right there, so go ahead and enter.

I’ll always be thankful to the delivery guy for making me install security cameras around my house with a note.

When the results of a DNA test on a son who “doesn’t look like” him are received, the wife gathers the family.
