“People forget that I’m playing a character, they think, ‘Oh, she gets naked onscreen, she’s a sex symbol,'” Sweeney said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that took place in 2022.
“I just can’t seem to move past that,” she finished. “I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them,
but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry.”
She continued by saying that she ‘totally trusts’ the filmmakers with whom she works, especially Sam Levinson, who wrote Euphoria. “I’m always incredibly thrilled for Sam’s writing,” Sweeney chimed in.
Despite supposedly encountering some “issues,” Levinson is reportedly hard at work on the screenplay for the much-anticipated third season of Euphoria.
The series has been the subject of much debate, according to HBO CEO Casey Bloys, who provided an update on the matter last month.
