Despite her pleading, they were directed to the A&E waiting room, which was furnished with only plastic chairs, which Mr. Wakely found difficult to sit in.
When his back pain became unbearable, he attempted to lie down on the chairs. However, Ms. Wakely reported that a nurse informed her husband that he would be required to remain up due to the necessity of the seats.
Ms. Wakely further stated that she inquired about the delay in receiving the blood test results at 6 p.m., but was informed that he had been unjustly discharged.
He was subsequently examined by a physician who prescribed antibiotics for pneumonia in one of his lungs. Additionally, they placed him on a nebulizer to assist him in breathing while he was confined to a cubicle.
Nevertheless, he required an X-ray, and they both returned to the A&E waiting room. Ms. Wakely requested a trolley once more at approximately 8:30 p.m.
She stated, “He was in such severe back pain that he was weeping.”However, we were advised to exercise patience and await the availability of one.
