“A woman was seated in front of us who had been in the facility for 11 hours longer than we were, and she was not only on a trolley but also lacked a bed.”
Ms. Wakely has stated that she intends to submit a formal complaint to Medway Maritime Hospital; however, she and her husband have been “completely exhausted” by the experience and have not yet done so.
Sarah Vaux, interim chief nursing officer for Medway NHS Foundation Trust, expressed her profound regret for Mr. Wakely’s ordeal and the emotional anguish it inflicted upon him and his family.
Mr. Wakely was promptly transferred to a trolley for his comfort upon staff becoming aware that he was sprawled on the floor.
Our emergency department is currently experiencing a high volume of patients who require admission for treatment, which has resulted in a high level of activity at our facility.
