Under Trump’s direction, the agency has started cutting 7,000 workers, focusing on alleged fraudulent payments and benefits to “ineligible” individuals, such as undocumented immigrants.
An executive order that Trump recently signed prohibits illegal immigrants from getting Social Security benefits.
The president is “absolutely certain” about preserving benefits for “law-abiding tax-paying American citizens and seniors,” according to his press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who also stated that “He will always protect that program.”
Biden’s speech was openly criticized on social media by the Social Security Administration, which is currently run by a Trump appointee. The CIA said on X, “Former President Joe Biden is lying to Americans.”
Steven Cheung, the White House spokeswoman, retaliated as well, calling Biden’s appearance “an incoherent speech” from a man with a “feeble mind.”
“By removing the taxation of Social Security benefits, President Trump has consistently pledged to preserve Social Security and guarantee increased take-home pay for seniors,” Cheung stated (via NBC News).
