He was eventually captured in Florida while operating Myers’ unmarked police truck after leaving a car he had carjacked in Columbia at the gas station.
In addition, Mahdi acknowledged killing Christopher Boggs, a convenience store employee, three days before to killing Myers.
The AP reports that Boggs was shot twice in the head while verifying Mahdi’s identification.
Earlier this week, Mahdi’s attorneys filed a final appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court and the South Carolina Supreme Court, but it was denied.
They contended that Mahdi’s initial attorneys did not fairly represent him because they failed to consult with his family, instructors, or other acquaintances throughout the case.
They also disregarded the effects of the months Mahdi spent in solitary prison as a teenager.
