On closer inspection, though, the entire episode—which aired on April 23—tells quite another tale. Contextually, Obama was talking about the experience of her guest, not about her personally.
Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans, who was talking on personal and cultural issues including his relationship with his transgender child, was the subject of the podcast part in issue.
Obama’s remark: “That warms my heart. Especially as a Black guy, would you kindly share…’s segue asking Wayans to open up more?
