James Earl Jones, 93, was the actor from “Star Wars” and “Lion King.”

“I understand that George did contact Orson Welles to read for the voice of Darth Vader before he contacted me,

” Jones wrote in The Making of Star Wars, reflecting on the event. “Do you want a day’s work?” he said, knowing that I was unemployed.

For his part in the first movie, Jones received a meager $7,000 and went unacknowledged at first. However, in later releases, he was included among the credits.

In addition to her work on Star Wars, Jones is renowned for her performance as Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King, which she voiced for both the live-action 2019 version and the 1994 animated classic.
