The Scream actress, who was just 19 at the time, expressed her delight about shooting graphic sequences for the 2022 horror film in an interview with IndieWire. The character arc of Lorraine appealed to her since it went against the grain.
“I had never read anything like it before, and that was super-enticing to me,” Ortega said. “I adore how my character starts off in one direction and then changes course in the middle of the movie.”
“I was very excited to do something that I had never done before and immerse myself in an environment that was so different from anything I’ve ever filmed,” she said.
Although her character didn’t have any sexual moments at first, West added an intimate scene with co-star Kid Cudi to Lorraine’s plot as production went on.
“That wasn’t a conscious decision,” Ortega remembered. In fact, the moment wasn’t originally included in the screenplay. “That wasn’t a part [of the film] when I signed on,” she said.
