According to the Vatican, Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88. After Pope Benedict XVI’s historic resignation in March 2013, he was elected to lead the Catholic Church for 12 years.
Francis just left Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where he was taken on February 14 due to breathing difficulties.
Later, it was discovered that he had double pneumonia, which can cause inflammation and scarring in both lungs and make breathing more difficult, as well as a complicated respiratory tract infection.
He had recovered enough to see US Vice President JD Vance yesterday morning and make an appearance in front of large crowds in St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday.
Since then, medical professionals have stated that he “passed away peacefully” and that his cause of death is thought to be a brain issue, most likely a stroke.
