A mother of five who passed away after being assaulted by a dog at her residence had recently lost her daughter.
On July 29, Michelle Hempstead, 34, was assaulted by a Bullmastiff-type breed at her ground-floor residence in Southend, Essex. She sustained lacerations to her left arm.
Ms. Hempstead had escaped by climbing over the balcony railing, as reported by her neighbors, and eventually collapsed near a play area.
Upon hearing her cries, bystanders immediately responded by administering first aid. She was transported to
Southend Hospital by paramedics before being transferred to the Royal London Hospital, where she passed away the following day.
An inquest into her death was initiated today; however, it was postponed while a police investigation is ongoing.
