Layton Carr: Grieving relatives honor the “cheeky, happy lad” who perished in the Gatehouse industrial estate fire

The devastated relatives of a teenage boy who perished in an industrial park fire have honored their “cheeky” and “loving” son.

The fire in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, near the Fairfield Industrial Park on Friday night claimed the life of 14-year-old Layton Carr.

According to Northumbria Police, 14 minors, ages 11 to 14, have been taken into custody on suspicion of manslaughter.

Layton’s family stated in a statement: “Layton was such a kind, caring, and loving boy.” It was clear from the moment of his birth what kind of person he would become.

“Layton was a joyful, cheeky 14-year-old boy, just like any other. Layton had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody, even if he was a little cocky.
