In a ceremony Thursday at the White House, Biden will present the Presidential Citizens Medal to 20 individuals, including two of the president’s long-time friends, former Sens.
Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Ted Kaufman, D-Del., as well as Americans who battled for marriage equality and a pioneer in the treatment of injured soldiers.
According to a White House statement, “President Biden believes these Americans are bonded by their common decency and commitment to serving others.”
“Their sacrifice and commitment have improved the nation.” Last year, Biden paid tribute to those who helped protect.
