Lip Reader Reveals What Denzel Washington Yelled at Photographer During Heated Exchange at Cannes

Highest 2 Lowest, a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller High and Low, was not originally on the official Cannes schedule.

It was added last-minute to accommodate Washington’s limited availability due to his ongoing Broadway run in Othello.

The film is set to hit theaters via A24 on August 22, followed by a streaming release on Apple TV+ on September 5.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Washington has pushed back against inappropriate fan or press behavior. Just months ago, he was seen confronting autograph seekers at a benefit in New York.

“I heard you. You talk about showing love… respect me,” he told a fan, per Metro. “I said, ‘I’ll see you when I get out.’ Which part of that don’t y’all understand?”

Then, with his trademark intensity, he warned: “Or not, or not! We can do it another way. I can do it both ways, y’all.”
