Max Romeo, the reggae icon behind the BBC-banned song, has away at the age of 80.

Romeo’s fame was further cemented when his song “Let the Power Fall on I” became an anthem for Jamaica’s People’s National party during its triumphant 1972 election campaign.

Romeo sued Polygram Publishing, Inc. and Universal Music Group in 2023 for $15 million (£11.4 million), alleging that he had not received royalties for his work for more than 50 years.

After DancehallMag revealed the lawsuit, Romeo stated in a 2023 statement, “I have used every resource at my disposal to have this matter resolved after 47 years.”

After his infant daughter was killed by the family dog, a distraught father speaks out. “I would sacrifice my life to bring my child back.”

Arsonists set fire to Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro’s official house as he and his family were sleeping inside.
