Michelle’s candor was commended by Taraji P. Henson, who claimed that too many women serve as “shock absorbers” for the needs of others.
“Women are expected to carry the emotional burden for their families, their communities, and their public image,” Henson stated. “It’s exhausting and unfair.”
Michelle acknowledged that she’s still learning how to put herself first, both for her own health and to set a good example for her children, Sasha and Malia.
“If after everything I’ve achieved, I’m still trapped trying to prove myself to the world, what message does that send to the next generation?” she asked.
