Loyda Cordero Galiero, a lifelong smoker, believed she was making a healthy decision when she quit smoking and started vaping.
However, a year later, the 39-year-old Franklin, New York resident felt as though she was suffocating and was suddenly unable to breathe.
After being taken to the hospital in a hurry, the doctors gave her a heartbreaking diagnosis and warned that she might not live for long.
According to doctors, vaping had seriously harmed her lungs, resulting in fluid accumulation and inflammation that made breathing difficult.
Even small motions ran the risk of rupturing more delicate air sacs since her deflated lung was no longer able to expand and contract normally.
‘Ticking time bomb’ was how her physicians described her lungs.
