Millions of phones will get an emergency notice about Storm Eowyn’s siren tonight.

As the UK prepares for Storm Eowyn, millions of people will receive an emergency alert on their phones TONIGHT.

About 4.5 million people will receive the largest alert in history at 6 p.m. via a siren on their phones that will vibrate for up to 10 seconds.

Parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, where the Met Office has issued a rare’red alert’ warning, will get it.

First introduced in 2023, the “Armageddon alert” system is used in emergency situations. For example, during the most recent Storm Darragh, more than 3 million people were advised.
