Missing British Teen Bella May Culley Found in Georgian Jail, Faces Life Sentence Over Cannabis Smuggling Allegations

An 18-year-old British woman previously reported missing while believed to be holidaying in Thailand has been located — not in Southeast Asia, but 4,000 miles away in Georgia.

Where she now faces life in prison after being accused of attempting to smuggle 30 pounds (14kg) of cannabis through Tbilisi International Airport.

Bella May Culley, from Billingham, County Durham, was last thought to be in the Pattaya area near Bangkok, sparking a frantic international search after she stopped communicating with her family on May 5.

However, Georgian authorities confirmed this week that Culley had been arrested after airport scanners flagged her luggage.
