Missing British Teen Bella May Culley Found in Georgian Jail, Faces Life Sentence Over Cannabis Smuggling Allegations

Footage aired by local broadcasters showed her being led into the Central Criminal Police Department in Tbilisi in handcuffs.

Life in Prison No. 5

If convicted, Culley is expected to serve her sentence in Tbilisi Prison No. 5, Georgia’s only women’s facility.

The prison, located roughly 45 minutes from the capital, has been repeatedly criticised by human rights organisations for overcrowding and inhumane conditions.

According to Human Rights Watch and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, the prison has been described as “degrading,” “inhuman,” and “an affront to a civilised society.”
