The fictitious tale gained traction after it was announced that Brazil had banned access to X there after Musk was ordered by a judge to remove information from the platform that they said endangered the country’s electoral integrity.
Musk was banned as a result of his refusal to cooperate. Similar satirical allegations against Musk and Goldberg have already been covered by Snopes.
These include a fabricated story that Musk had barred writer Stephen King from X and another that claimed Goldberg had approached South Carolina U.S. Senator Tim Scott on set and sobbed.
