The shop is being sued by the family of a 78-year-old mother who passed very soon after eating a single cookie from the store.
In April 2023, Peggy Bryant of Washington purchased what she thought were oatmeal and raisin cookies just months before her 60th wedding anniversary.

But as soon as she tasted the delectable treat, she knew something was seriously amiss.
The cookie was purchased from Safeway in Duvall, Washington, and according to her family, it was a peanut butter cookie that was mislabeled and resulted in a fatal allergic reaction.
“My mom loved oatmeal raisin cookies,” Lisa Bishop, her daughter, said on Thursday on King 5 News.
Since she had a severe allergy to peanuts, she recognized that the cookie she was eating was actually a peanut butter cookie.
