Found guilty of kidnapping and trafficking her six-year-old daughter, Joshlin Smith, in a case that stunned the country, a South African mother has been sentenced to life in jail.

Earlier this month Kelly Smith, sometimes known as Racquel Smith, was found guilty along with her boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis, and friend, Steveno Van Rhyn.

The three were found guilty by the Western Cape High Court, which conducts hearings in a community centre in Saldanha Bay to provide public access, BBC News notes.
