Bella’s kindergarten teacher, Kaitlin May, testified that the girl frequently arrived at school crying and struggled academically and emotionally.
According to the Fox 8 story, May claimed that Bella was depressed every day when she came to school. She sobbed because, if she was with her dad, she couldn’t reach her mother. It never changed.
During Tuesday’s hearings, Bella’s father, Michael, took the stand and talked about his family history and previous relationships.
According to KPLC TV, Michael acknowledged in court that his girlfriend assisted in caring for Bella and her sister, but he also acknowledged that Bella had recently started acting afraid of Landon in her therapy sessions.
Michael testified, “She said Ms. Hannah was mean to her.” He also indicated that he questioned Landon about the concerns, which she dismissed “nonchalantly.”
The prosecution maintains that Landon knew right from wrong at the time of the senseless killing, but the defense contended that her actions were the product of a serious mental disorder.
