Musk Says the Next DOGE Audit Target Will Be Fort Knox Gold Stash

Elon Musk warned that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would attack Fort Knox next. Musk questioned the gold stockpiles at the U.S. military facility in a number of postings.

Over the weekend. “Who is verifying that Fort Knox’s gold wasn’t stolen? It may or may not be present. The American people own that gold! If it’s still there, we want to know,” Musk wrote.

Initially, the DOGE chair answered a question about the issue from the financial site ZeroHedge. Zerohedge said on X, “It would be fantastic if [Musk] could peek inside Fort Knox just.

To confirm that the 4,580 tons of US gold are there.” “The last time anyone looked was in 1974, which was fifty years ago.”

“Surely it’s reviewed at least every year?” Musk retorted. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) added his thoughts on the matter. While acknowledging that Fort Knox is not audited annually,

He pushed Musk to do so in his own statement. Paul raised concerns about the gold stockpiles during a House committee on the subject more than ten years ago.
