When Kathryn Alcaide became pregnant in 2011, she was overjoyed. From a previous relationship, she had two daughters: Madison, who is now eighteen, and Samara, who is now twenty-one.
However, a new baby was thrilling for her and her husband, Jonathan. “I truly desired a boy,” Alcaide admits to PEOPLE.
“The same feeling I had was mirrored by her daughters.” We were a family full of females, so they were all cheering for a boy.
“I felt complete” when Brady was born, according to Alcaide. But he had a severe cough two months later.
The situation swiftly worsened, and Brady passed away on January 28, 2012, from what his family subsequently confirmed was whooping cough, or pertussis.
The Mayo Clinic states that symptoms, which include fever, cough, runny nose, and watery eyes, begin mildly and get worse five to ten days after infection.
