New Syrian Prime Minister Calls Refugees to “Come Home”

Syria’s millions of refugees worldwide have been urged to come home by the country’s new temporary prime minister.

Mohamed al-Bashir greeted a new era for Syria after years of civil conflict and promised religious freedom for everyone, calling on all Syrians “scattered” throughout the globe to assist in “rebuilding.”

He made this plea to all Syrians living overseas in his first interview with the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

“Syria is now a free country that has regained its pride and dignity.” Return. “We need to rebuild, to get our country on its feet again, and we need everyone’s help,”

The former engineer said to the estimated six million Syrian refugees living overseas. Mr. Bashir attempted to reassure Syrians that the new Islamist-led government.

Which has historical ties to al-Qaeda and Islamic State, would protect “the rights of all people and all sects” as the fall of the Assad regime plunged Syria into an uncertain future.
