No Survivors in Northern Colorado Plane Crash Near Rocky Mountain Metro Airport

Tragically, there were no survivors in a plane crash near Rocky Mountain Metro Airport in Broomfield, Colorado, on Saturday, May 17.

According to the North Metro Fire Rescue District, both occupants aboard the aircraft lost their lives.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that two people were on board the Beechcraft 95, a twin-engine airplane that crashed shortly after 10 a.m. local time while attempting to land.

Airport officials reported that shortly after takeoff, the pilot contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) to report an issue with the plane’s door being open.

While attempting to return to the airport, the aircraft crashed near the intersection of Brainard and Midway, close to the Flatiron Crossing exit.

The crash caused a fire that was quickly extinguished by the North Metro Fire Department.

The Boulder Police Department has secured the scene as the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) lead the investigation.

The NTSB is the primary investigative agency and will release updates as they become available. Authorities have advised the public to avoid the area while investigations continue.
