Last month, the Journal of Psychosexual Health released a research that explored the relationship between sexual activity and cardiovascular health.
The authors of the study speculated that it might be because of the increased blood flow and decreased heart rate variability.
“Using findings from our study, we can infer that sexual activity, broadly defined, may ameliorate loss of function that can occur with age and the progression of disease.”
According to prior research, the typical adult in the United States has sexual relations 54 times a year, or approximately once every seven days.
People who had sex more than once a week and those who have sex less than once a week were the two categories into which the 2,267 participants (ranging in age from 29 to 50) were divided.
