NYPD Data Reveals Crime Rising Over 70% in AOC’s District Since She Took Office in 2019

Since she took office in 2019, major crime has surged in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s New York congressional district.

NYPD statistics show a 70% spike throughout the precincts covering her Bronx and Queens territory—more than double the citywide growth of 30% over the same period.

Using NYPD’s past crime statistics, the investigation concentrated on seven main felonies: murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and auto theft.

Of the six precincts that stayed a part of the 14th Congressional District under Ocasio-Cortez’s tenure—43rd and 45th in the Bronx, and 109th, 110th, 114th, and 115th in Queens—all reported crime rises far above the average increase for the city.

The 110th Precinct in Queens, which spans a portion of the Roosevelt Avenue corridor—a well-known center for human trafficking and illicit prostitution—saw the biggest rise.

In one precinct, major crime climbed 105%.
