He told KPIX CBS, “I was going about my business when I heard footsteps behind me, and then all of a sudden ‘bam’ — I got hit in the back of the head with something metal [and] went down on all fours.”
Even though Titus was unaware at the time that the hit had caused a serious wound, he still hurried to his feet and defended himself.
Titus leaped to his feet and looked at the two individuals, who he subsequently described as being just around five feet tall and having a darker complexion.
At least one had a weapon in their hand, and they were both wearing hoodies. According to KRON4, the second one appeared to be grabbing Titus’s 1968 Rolex Daytona wristwatch.
Titus took matters into his own hands at that point. Richard Titus laughed as he recounted, “So, I punched him, as you do.” “I swung at the one who wasn’t holding anything because he was closer to me.”
