Although he was grateful for his safety and his ability to protect himself, he wishes the city would boost police presence and react to crimes like this one more quickly.
“I hope the city and law enforcement take some action,” Titus stated. “The mayor’s office and law enforcement should have a closer relationship, and I would like criminals to be held accountable,” he continued.
“Even during the perilous years, fifteen years ago, I always felt safe in San Francisco,” Titus acknowledged. “But even before this experience, the police response seems slower and it feels more menacing.”
Richard Titus encouraged people to be more conscious of their surroundings and expressed the hope that such instances will result in improved police presence and responsiveness.
He also thought it was crucial to mention that he was sober at the time of the occurrence. He said that he has actually been sober for the past 30 years.
We applaud him for that, but it is disheartening that after being struck in the head in an unprovoked attack, a victim of violence felt the need to protect his reputation from another kind of assault.
