In Chester County, South Carolina, a school bus accident has resulted in the verified death of one pupil.
The collision occurred Thursday at approximately 1:45 p.m. close to Exit 55 (Highway 97). According to WSOCTV, the bus overturned, obstructing all southbound lanes.
The school bus, which was one of three vehicles in a convoy from Pine Ridge Middle School, was transporting about thirty-five pupils and two adults.
One student was killed and twenty-one others were injured among the passengers. Students were returning home from a field trip to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, according to Lexington District 2.
According to troopers, the bus overturned when its tire burst and collided with a guardrail. The deceased student’s name has not been revealed.
